The Community Living Mississauga Board of Directors announced that Keith Tansley will retire on August 28, 2026, following an extraordinary 45 years of service to Community Living Mississauga, including 33 years as Executive Director.
Keith began his career with Community Living Mississauga as Controller and, shortly after, took on the role of Executive Director, a position he has held with distinction for over three decades. Throughout this time, he has been instrumental in shaping both our organization and the broader developmental services sector. His leadership has spanned eras of profound change, including the closure of institutions, the evolution of community inclusion, and the expansion of supports that recognize the rights, autonomy, and contributions of people who have an intellectual disability.
Under Keith’s guidance, Community Living Mississauga has grown significantly, expanding our programs and services, increasing the number of people and families supported, and tripling the size of our workforce. His commitment to innovation has fostered strong partnerships across Mississauga and contributed to establish our reputation as a leader in creativity, collaboration, and community engagement.
Keith’s accomplishments are extensive. He has championed person‑centred service models, advanced inclusive housing and employment opportunities, strengthened meaningful community partnerships, and maintained financial stability for 45 consecutive years. He played a key role in sector-wide collaboration, working closely with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and regional partners to design creative service models, support people and families in crisis, and extend assistance beyond traditional funded capacity. His steady leadership was especially evident as he guided the organization through major sector shifts and the unprecedented challenges of the COVID‑19 pandemic.
Keith’s impact has reached far beyond Community Living Mississauga. Across the region and the province, he is admired for his leadership, advocacy, and commitment to strengthening partnerships and improving supports for people who have an intellectual disability.
Most of all, while Keith has been in the leadership role, he is clear that credit for successes of Community Living Mississauga firmly belong to the Senior Management team, our amazing teams of employees, to the people and families we support, our volunteers, our many, many community partners, and our Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors extends its deepest gratitude to Keith for his remarkable dedication to Community Living Mississauga, to the people and families we support, to our employees, and to the developmental services sector.
The Board of Directors also announces that Trevor Lumb will assume the duties of Executive Director for Community Living Mississauga as of August 28, 2026.
Trevor joined Community Living Mississauga in October 2024 as Senior Director of Operations. He has taken on increasing responsibilities over the last 18 months immersing himself with each Director’s departmental mandates. Trevor brings over 3 decades of experience in management roles in the Developmental Services sector. Most recently, Trevor had 12 years experience as Chief Operations Officer at Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf.
During the next 5 months prior to transition, Trevor will be working closely with Keith and all of the Directors to fully familiarize himself with Community Living Mississauga’s organizational goals in serving those we support.
Congratulations to Trevor on taking up our top leadership role. We are confident you will continue to guide Community Living Mississauga towards our goal of providing excellence in service to those who have an intellectual disability.
And congratulations to Keith on an extraordinary career and a lifetime of dedication to building inclusive communities and enhancing the lives of people who have an intellectual disability.
