Community Supports
Community Living Mississauga is a non-profit, charitable organization which supports people who have an intellectual disability to identify and achieve their personal goals and interests.


Providing support to children, youth, adults and their families who require assistance to access community supports, information and services. Service Coordination is a goal-oriented and time limited service which can be accessed through a centralized intake process.
A person must have an intellectual disability and be living in the Mississauga community with his/her family in order to be eligible to access this service. Referrals and inquiries for children and youth can be made through the Kids Pathways Peel Network at www.kidspathwayspeel.com and for adults through Developmental Services Ontario at www.dsontario.ca.

INFORMATION SESSIONS:
Community Living Mississauga is proud to offer a variety of Information Sessions to people who have an intellectual disability and their families living in Mississauga. At these sessions, professionals speak about a wide variety of topics including – Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Wills and Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Guardianship, Role of the Trustee, and Financial Planning.
All information sessions are currently being offered virtually, and are presented on the Zoom platform. Participation numbers will be limited so please register early.

Role of the Trustee
Information about the ongoing role and responsibilities that the Trustee for your family member’s Henson Trust will have in the future.

PARENT/ FAMILY GROUPS:
Community Living Mississauga is pleased to support parent/family groups, where parents and family members come together to share information, successes, and to connect. Come out and join the conversation! In order to participate in these groups, you and your family member must be a resident of Mississauga.

Family Resource Group:
This group is comprised of parents and family members of teens, young adults, and adults. The group meets informally every six to eight weeks, to share information and conversation. There is a suggested topic each time, but the conversation is led by family members and is free-flowing. Come on out and connect with other families!
Dates: November 22, 2022; January 17, February 21 and April 18, 2023
Time: 7 to 8 p.m.
Future Planning Group:
This group gathers for seven sessions that are designed to assist you to create a plan for the future for you or your family member who has an intellectual disability. The Future Planning Group meets on a monthly basis from October to April
Dates: November 2 and December 7, 2022; January 11, February 1, March 1, April 5, 2023 and May 3, 2023
Time 7 to 8 p.m.
Planning Services:
All services are currently being offered via telephone, and virtually via the Zoom platform.
Planning Services at Community Living Mississauga assists people to develop Person-Directed Plans. Person-Directed Planning is the inclusive process of setting life goals, developing strategies, and outlining actions and timelines to accomplish the goals. A Person-Directed Plan assists one to make decisions about their long-term possibilities, and the next steps to get there.
The planner will meet with the person and their family to gather information. Information and resources will be made available to assist in supporting the Person-Directed Plan.

Sibling Workshops are offered to children aged 6 – 12 years old within the Peel Region who have a brother or sister with a diagnosis of an intellectual disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder .
- Runs 1 evening a month – alternating between Mississauga and Brampton
- Open to siblings of person who have a diagnosis of an intellectual disability or autism
- Family must reside in Peel
- A minimum of 8 children must be pre-registered for workshop to run
- Separate registration is required for each night
