Day Supports
Whether it is being involved in a recreational program, volunteering or working, Community Living Mississauga believes that all people who have an intellectual disability should have the opportunity to participate in meaningful daytime activities.
Our programs include employment support, university experiences and recreational day programs. This range of options allows people to find the day support program which will help meet their personal goals.

Community Living Mississauga operates a number of Community Base Sites throughout Mississauga. The goal of each Base Site is to provide people who have an intellectual disability with opportunities to participate in meaningful social, recreational and leisure activities throughout the day. People will choose activities and be supported to fully participate within the community of Mississauga.
Who is eligible?
People whose eligibility for service has been confirmed by Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) and who:
- Are at least 21 years of age
- Are residents of Mississauga
- Are currently not enrolled in school
- Have exhausted other community options and all other possible services
- Must require support and be able to successfully participate with the provision of a six-to-one participant-to-support staff ratio
- Are willing to participate fully within the community and to cover expenses related to activities
- Are willing to follow the guidelines and expectations of the program
What can you expect?
- Initial meeting to discuss support needs and interests
- To attend a setting with approximately 30 other people who are participating in on-site activities as well as activities in the community
- Individualized schedules and individually developed goals and choices of activities and pursuits
- Full-day attendance up to five days (depending on availability)

Hours of operation
- 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
- Base Sites are closed on weekends and on all statutory holidays (No extended hours)

Community Living Mississauga also offers the Links program through the Community Base Sites at the Argentia and Matheson locations. The goal of the Links Program is to provide an opportunity to participate in meaningful community activities, to achieve independence and community engagement. The activities offered in the Links Program will focus on people building social capital within the community. This means that by attending regularly scheduled classes, groups or volunteering at the same place each week, people will be more connected in the community, be part of the groups they participate in and build more relationships.
Participants at all Base Sites will have the opportunity to sign up for a day in the Links Program based on the activities they are interested in. The schedule a person signs up for will continue for 12 weeks.
What can you expect?
- Two people will be supported by one support staff member to access activities they have signed up for on a recurring 12-week schedule
- The goal of the Links program is to build social capital. Therefore, people will be encouraged to connect with others in the group with the objective being the ability for the support staff to step back and allow natural relationships to develop and flourish
Who is eligible?
- All people participating in the Argentia, Matheson or Queensway locations who are interested in the scheduled activities
- Surveys will go out to participants and families. People interested in the program will be chosen according to interests, matching and availability
Cost
Aside from the regular Base Site fees, there is no extra cost

Community on Campus is designed to provide an opportunity for adults from 21 years of age to 30 to participate in activities of their choice on campus at The University of Toronto at Mississauga.
These activities could include, but are not limited to, auditing classes, enhancing literacy skills, volunteering, and increasing physical fitness, socializing with friends or developing computer skills. Individualized schedules are created based on what each participant wants to achieve.
Community Living Mississauga support staff coordinates the schedules and activities, while one-to-one support is provided by volunteer students. Participants can spend up to a maximum of 16 hours per week on campus for a period of three years.
Hours of operation
Community on Campus operates from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday through the year (excluding school holidays and closures).
Who is eligible
People whose eligibility for service has been confirmed by Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) and who are:
- Between the ages of 21 and 30 years old
- Not currently attending a secondary school
- Are residents of Mississauga
- Able to attend the program a minimum of one day per week
- Able to arrange for their transportation to and from the campus
- Interested in taking part in the activities that are available on campus
- Willing to comply with the guidelines and expectations of the program
