Residential Supports
All of Community Living Mississauga’s residential supports are designed to enable the people who live in each house or apartment to be an active part of their community and take pride in their home.
Community Living Mississauga provides support at 33 residential support locations across Mississauga. A maximum of four people live at each home, which are located in residential neighbourhoods.
The residential support locations are no different than any other homes on the streets and the supports are designed to maximize community involvement for each person.
There is an ongoing high level of demand for residential support services and, as a result, there is a waiting list (managed by Developmental Services Ontario) for this support. To learn more about how to apply for residential supports, please visit Developmental Services Ontario at www.dsontario.ca.

People who have an intellectual disability who wish to live more independently may be eligible for support through our Supported Independent Living (SIL) program.
Most people supported through Supported Independent Living work or participate in daytime activities and receive a few hours of residential support in the evenings.
Due to high demand for residential services, there is currently a waiting list managed by Developmental Services Ontario (DSO). To learn more about eligibility and how to apply, please visit www.dsontario.ca.

The Family Home Program is a residential option that enables families or individuals to share their home and provide support to a person who has an intellectual disability.
We actively recruit people (families and individuals) who are committed to opening their homes to adults who have an intellectual disability.
- Full-time providers: those who are committed to welcoming an adult into their home on a full-time basis
- Respite providers: those who can offer short-term support on weekends or for longer periods as needed.
This partnership fosters personal growth and independence while offering a safe and nurturing environment.
Participants in the Family Home Program receive ongoing support, training, and financial remuneration.

This model of residential support offers an alternative to traditional service delivery for people who have an intellectual disability; particularly those who are underserved by conventional systems.
Unlike traditional approaches that require people to fit into existing programs or resources, this model is designed around each person’s unique needs. It is flexible, person-centered, and responsive, ensuring that support is tailored rather than standardized.
