The Community Engagement Resource Initiative is a social opportunity for adults who have an intellectual disability over 18 years of age. People are matched with 3 others and they get together once a week and participate in a different activity each week. Some of the activities include attending community events such as Ribfest, an evening of astronomy at Riverwood conservancy, going out for dinner and going to the movies.
People eligible for the Community Engagement Resource Initiative must have completed the intake process for Community Living Mississauga, be 18 years of age or older and be a resident of Mississauga.
Individualized support is not provided so participants must be able to share support with 3 other people. People who require one to one support are welcome to participate but must bring their own support.
Participants must be willing to follow the guidelines and expectations of the program and be able to get to and from the activity each week as transportation is not provided.
