Position Goals:
Spend 12 weeks with purpose by meaningfully improving the quality of life of an adult who has an intellectual disability and is living independently in our community. The position’s goals are to reduce social isolation, explore new interests, accomplish personal goals and have FUN!
Description:
From June to August, once a week on a mutually agreeable day (and time), volunteers will meet with a preassigned person for 12 weeks to enjoy an activity of mutual interest to both parties.
- The meet-ups are expected to last 1 – 2 hours and may occur on weekdays, weeknights, or weekends.
- Volunteers will be introduced to their respective matches before the start of the 12-week engagement.
- Some things you can anticipate doing with your match include going out for coffee, bowling, watching a movie, attending a community theatre, walking in the park, attending a special event in Mississauga, etc.
- Volunteers will receive ongoing support from our employees.

Requirements:
- Minimum Age – 18.
- A commitment of 12 weeks (June through August).
- Virtual Interview with the Manager of Volunteer Services.
- Three Personal References.
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (reimbursement provided upon completion of the volunteer commitment).
- Free orientation and training (you will be given all the information you will need to make this a successful volunteer experience).
