The Community Engagement Teen Initiative is a social opportunity for youth between 13-17 years of age. Program participants are matched with two other youths and they get together once a week and participate in a different activity each week. Some of the activities include playing laser tag, going to the movies, playing mini-golf and going to Playdium.
Who is eligible?
People eligible for the Community Engagement Teen Initiative must have completed the intake process for Community Living Mississauga, be between 13-17 years of age and be a resident of Mississauga.
Individualized support is not provided, so participants must be able to share support with 2 other youth. People who require one-to-one support are welcome to participate but must bring their own support.
Participants must be willing to follow the guidelines and expectations of the program and be able to get to and from the activity each week as transportation is not provided.
What can you expect?
- Youth register for a 6-month session.
- Successful registrants will participate in one activity each week with their group for the 6-month session.
- Group members decide on which activities to participate in together and create their schedule each month.
- Each group will meet on the same day and at the same time each week but the location will be different each week. A schedule will be provided.
