True Belonging is the First Step to True Acceptance
True belonging has been defined as believing in yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world whether as being a part of something or standing alone.
Recently, true belonging has been a challenge for everyone. Without regular contact with our friends and families, it has been difficult to remember who our authentic selves actually are.
Over the past two years, however, Community Living Mississauga’s nearly 500 employees have worked diligently to make sure that the people we support still had a sense of true belonging. People continued to express their authentic selves through art, baking, music and conversation…whether it was part of an online, virtual community or simply for personal expression. Our employees adapted so that everyone they supported were able to find new ways to connect, to grow and to thrive.
Throughout the challenging past couple of years, the incredible efforts of our employees have ensured that the people they support have maintained a true belonging with their families, a true belonging with their community and, most importantly, a true belonging within themselves.
And now we are asking you to share your most authentic self with the extended Community Living Mississauga family.
- Become a member of Community Living Mississauga — it only costs $20 to be a member and you’ll help us shape the future direction of our organization. Members are also invited to our Annual General Meeting to be held on Thursday June 23, 2022 where our theme will be “True Belonging Is…A Celebration of Community Living Mississauga Employees”
- Make a donation— any amount will help us to continue to ensure the quality of life is meaningfully improved for people who have an intellectual disability. Community Living Mississauga now provides support to more than 3,000 people and families.
We are honoured that you believe in the work we are doing so deeply that you are willing to give to us so we can continue to support people to share their authentic selves and be a part of the Mississauga community.
Your gift of any value whether one time or monthly is so appreciated.
Sincerely,
Dorothy Martel, President Keith Tansley, Executive Director
