As you may have already heard, the federal government recently announced a one-time payment of $600 for people who have a disability, in recognition of the increased financial hardships brought on by COVID-19. People who have an approved Disability Tax Credit (DTC) on file with CRA will automatically receive this benefit. Therefore, if you fall under this category, no further action is required on your part. However, anyone who has not filed and been approved for the DTC will need to do so by September 25, 2020 in order to receive the $600 payment.
