Position Goals:

Spend 12 weeks with purpose by meaningfully improving the quality of life of an adult who has an intellectual disability. The position’s goals are to reduce social isolation, explore new interests, and improve the quality of life of a person with an intellectual disability.

Description:

  • Ashton and LucasOnce a week from February to April, on a mutually agreeable day (and time), volunteers will meet with a pre-assigned person to enjoy an activity of mutual interest to both parties for 12 weeks.
  • Meetings are expected to last 1 – 2 hours and may take place on weekdays, weeknights, or weekends.
  • Volunteers will be introduced to their respective ‘matches’ before the start of the 12-week engagement
  • Some things you can anticipate doing with your match include going out for coffee, bowling, watching a movie, going for a walk in the park, attending a special event in Mississauga, etc.
  • Volunteers will be provided with ongoing support from Community Living Mississauga employees when needed

 Requirements:

  • Minimum Age – 18
  • A commitment of 12 weeks (February – April/May)
  • Virtual interview with the Manager of Volunteer Services
  • Three references
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Proof of double vaccination against COVID-19
  • Free Orientation and Training (you will be given all the information you will need to make this a successful volunteer experience)
