Volunteer Opportunities

One-To-One

Spend time with an individual, doing things you are both interested in. Head to the mall for shopping, catch a movie, go for a workout or just sit, relax and chat. It's up to both of you. A minimum six-month commitment is required. Volunteers are also asked to complete a screening process which includes an interview with the Manager of Volunteer Services, a check of references and a police background check.

Committee

Do you want to influence change? Get involved on a committee and make a difference in your community. There are a wide variety of committee's you can get involved in. A minimum 9-month commitment is required. Volunteers will be screened.

Youth Involvement Mississauga

Get involved with peers your age and have fun in the community! Youth Involvement Mississauga is an integrated youth group for people aged 13-23. Some of the members of the group have an intellectual disability, others do not. The group meets every Wednesday evening at the Square One Youth Centre to take part in different activities. Sometimes there are guest speakers or pool tournaments, other times the group will do fun things in the community such as swimming, going to the CNE, movies or other activities as decided upon by the group.

Summer Teen Activity Program

During the summer there are opportunities to get involved in the Summer Teen Activity Program which runs from the first week of July until the end of August. This is a great way to get some experience working with people who have an intellectual disability while having fun and earning your 40 hours for school! Volunteers are asked to make a minimum one-week commitment which runs from Monday-Friday from 8:30a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Volunteers are screened.

The Club

The Club meets on Wednesday evenings and is comprised of people over the age of 21. Members of the group head out to bowling and movies or enjoy guest speakers. Volunteers get involved to make friends and enjoy getting out in the community. Volunteers are screened.

Office/Administrative Volunteer

There are often opportunities for volunteers to assist Community Living Mississauga with various office and administrative duties, or even the opportunity to work on a special project.  Duties might include; photocopying, data base management, filing, making phone calls, typing letters, creating documents, graphic design, etc. Hours for these opportunities are fairly flexible; however, they typically fall during regular business hours – Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30.
