Support Assistant - Respite Program
(up to 12 hours per week)



Position Summary:

The Friday Night Girls and Guys Night Out and Teen Saturday Support Program are respite programs for teens between the ages of 13 and 18 who have an intellectual disability. Staff will provide support to small groups of teens to plan and participate in a variety of activities such as sports, arts, movies, local day trips and personal skills .

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing University or Community College education in Human Services or equivalent
  • Experience providing support to individuals, who have an intellectual disability including the areas of medical and behavioural support is required
  • Candidates must be detail oriented, hold clear values and service expectations, and have a proven track record of excellent support provision.
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Valid class G or G2 driver’s license and use of a car required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to attend mandatory training program and team meetings
  • Fluency in French is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Provide direct support to teens including providing personal care
  • Program planning
  • Liaise with local community groups and businesses
  • Must be available Friday nights and all Saturdays
