Children's Summer Support Program

The Children's Summer Support Program provides one-to-one support  to children (4-12 years of age), who have an intellectual disability, while they participate in a local day camp program.

Community Living Mississauga is proud to partner with the following day camp providers:

Children's Summer Support Program Staff Work from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm or 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.  If your child will be staying at the program beyond these times, it is your responsibility to arrange for appropriate support during the extended time period.

Past participants have said:

  • "I played basketball, soccer, dodge ball, sang songs, made crafts and met many new friends...I got to put on a performance at the end of each session for my parents."
  • "The leaders were funny!"
  • "I really loved the water activities!"

Application Process

*Note* Application forms will be mailed late February, to coincide with the City of
Mississauga's registration process.

The City of Mississauga Recreation & Parks Division, Interactive Learning Adventure and other community-based organizations operate summer programs in Mississauga.

If your child requires support to participate in a program, he or she must be accompanied by a support worker as these programs cannot provide one.

To request a support worker for a community-based summer program:

  1. Register for the program of your choice.
  2. Complete the Children's Summer Support Program Application Form and return it with a photocopy confirming that you have registered your child in a community-based program to Community Living Mississauga to the attention of Mary Dillon, Community Recreation Liaison.

Community Living Mississauga employs Program Supervisors, but does not have the resources to employ individual support staff for participants. Therefore, families will be required to honour a commitment to release sufficient funds from Special Services at Home or any other source of funding available to them. This funding will allow Community Living Mississauga to hire staff to provide support your son or daughter.

Complete and submit the applicable invoices which indicate what source of funding you are accessing for summer support. If you are using your own resources, submit a post-dated cheque with your registration.

*Note* Applications will not be considered unless accompanied by documentation confirmation registration and payment for the support costs.
